"Hit the Ground Running"

Well, I suppose we can apply any cliche we like here about the "Grand Opening" of Suburban Nirvana.com. The one that I like the best is "Hit the Ground Running." When deciding what to entitle the first Blog, in the interest of over-analyzing everything, as I am prone to doing, I ended up with simple and obvious.

Turns out that the phrase has a history, and a military one nonetheless, which always sparks interest for me. Because you can Google anything in the world, and receive a pretty satisfactory answer, I can share the origin with you. The term was first used in the late 1800's. It seems to have had little popularity, until it grew into the idiom that we use today. And what was it that caused it to be woven into our vocabulary? After a brief drum roll please, it was D-Day. Soldiers were told to hit the ground running during the invasion. After the public was exposed to the phrase more routinely around that time, it took on popularity. Thanks to grammarist.com for that.

Just briefly, speaking of Googling anything, I tried "colorado noodles," just as something totally strange and arbitrary. I got a bunch of things, including places to eat noodles, all neatly mapped out.

So that puts us here. Suburban Nirvana.com is ready to hit the ground running. All new customers will be receiving 10% off the already discounted prices that you see. So remember, "Take a look around, grab a coffee or an adult beverage, relax, and do some shopping. It will make everyone happy."
